Project title: Collaborative education approach to production of creativity e-portofilo as promotion and job search possibitlity
Duration: 1. 10. 2011 – 30. 9. 2013 (24 Months)
Purpose: To educate and encourage job seekers, who have creative careers, for creating an e-portfolio and presenting their knowledge, skills, creativity and products as a result of past work.
Goals: To adjust educational processes, to build a webpage, to prepare at least 10 e-portfolios.
Our part: Our role in the project is primarily training young hairdressers and share experiences from practice. We want to find motivated and creative new employees from the candidates who finish secondary school. With our involvement in the project we will establish better communication between students, employers and the business Hairdressers Association.
Why this project?
Although the year 2009 was the year of innovation and creativity in Europe, having many events, workshops, projects and papers, even a manifesto on creativity, it seems that all this energy and knowledge did not touch and move the base of vocational education and professionals in the service area.
Social networks and dedicated portals present new options in the area of multimedia use for vocational education and later presentation of acquired skills and thus finding good employment possibility. The use of these possibilities differs from country to country in Europe.
The Global Web Index has in year 2010 for more than 50,000 users of social platforms in 18 markets provided data on social media use. It indicates the increase in the use and production of social media data in Europe, where UK is among the most active countries, followed by Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Germany. Slovenia is following slowly. However most of the shared content is visual and produced by individuals. They have the advantage to present their work and skills in a contemporary and easy accessible way for their potential buyers or employers.
We have conducted a PRELIMINARY SURVEY on SŠOM among 150 students. 47% of them follow the social media but do not know how to present their creative work to find suitable job. THEY LACK KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO PRESENT THEIR CREATIVITY IN MULTIMEDIA ENVIRONMENT.
The objective of Bruges Communiqué on enhanced European Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training for the period 2011-2020 is clearly underlining the importance of more flexible education with emphasis on language skills, adaptability, self-confidence, creative thinking and open possibilities. The CEDEFOP study (2011: Labour-market polarisation and elementary occupations in Europe) show declining employment in tradable goods and a parallel rapid increase in employment across a range of services.
We have 2600 hairdressing salons in Slovenia, who would appreciate a possibility to see their future employee’s work, before they invite them to personal introduction. There is also a clear opportunity and obvious future for high skilled creative service providing workers (hairdressers, fashion designer, technical designers…) to get better work possibilities in Europe if they provide an up-to-date presentation of their skills and knowledge in a form of e-portfolio that is accessible to potential employers.
